GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A two-year-old child has been taken to a hospital after falling from a window in Grand Forks.

Police said in a news release late Saturday night that officers were called to an address on the city’s northeast side a little before 8:30 p.m. for a report of a small child who had fallen from a third-story apartment window. The child was taken to Altru Hospital with unknown injuries. An investigation is under way. The release offered no further details.

Police Sgt. Jay Middleton said during a telephone interview Saturday that the child has been transferred to a Fargo hospital and is listed in critical condition.

He said the fall appears to have been an accident. The child’s parents were home at the time but no foul play is suspected, he said. He said he did not know if the child was a boy or girl and had no further details.
